This megalodon tooth was found with a giant coral/barnacle/calcium based groth on one side, leave it as-is or clean it, your choice. The barnacle is really large and has shells mixed in with it, it makes the vertical height of this tooth over 2 inches when the tooth is placed flat side down.
5.2" slant height
The two videos below show me finding and recovering Megalodon teeth while scuba diving in a dark water river in the Southeast United States. The teeth in the video are not the one above that is for sale but I posted the videos here to give you an idea of how teeth can be recovered if everything goes perfectly.
The Megalodon shark was the apex predator of the ancient oceans. Megalodon ruled the seas during the Pliocene and Miocene epochs and scientists believe they lived between 3-16 million years ago.
Due to the Megalodon's skeletal structure being made of cartilage instead of bone there is almost nothing left of the giant predator other than the huge teeth they left behind. These impressive teeth have lasted millions of years because a small percentage of them were preserved because of their dense enamel and ideal mineral and fossilization conditions.
Megalodon was one of the largest predators to ever to live on earth, it is believed that they reached over 60 feet long. Not only did the Megalodon have impressive size but they had the strongest bite of any creature, ever.
